We are a different kind of museum.  Our motto is "get their hands in the dirt."  Agriculture connects people to the land, to a sense of place.  South Carolina has a long agricultural history and culture, from Cherokee farmers to modern fields monitored by drones.  Through it all, SC has remained an agrarian state with a people connected to the earth.  Our exhibits aren't static things all behind glass.  You can touch many of them.  Our animals aren't far off...they are right in front of you eying your hands, to see if you have any treats.  Our programs are not focused on useless knowledge; we want you to leave with a new skill.
